Depot and mixed-fleet charging

EV fleet charging for UK depots. Up to £2,500 a month.

That £2,500 is an upper figure from surplus charging, not an average. ZOLB EV sizes overnight AC and rapid DC to the duty cycle so vehicles leave charged. The Depot Charging Scheme is not open for applications. The next window is expected on 28 October 2026.

What could a depot earn from surplus bays?

An illustrative range. The £2,500 figure on this page is an upper bound, not a typical result. For a forecast built on vehicle count, dwell and tariff, book a free depot survey, compare diesel and electric in the fleet cost calculator, or use the full ROI calculator.

Depot Charging Scheme

Applications are closed. The next window is expected on 28 October.

Find a Grant says the scheme is not currently open. It part-funds charge point and civil costs at depots for battery-electric vans, HGVs and coaches. It does not pay for the vehicles, and it is not a Workplace Charging Scheme voucher. Eligibility, templates and both windows are set out in the Depot Charging Scheme guide.

Not open today
The Find a Grant listing says this scheme is not currently open to applications. The record shows an opening date of 25 March 2026, midday, and a closing date of 27 October 2026, midday. The same page says a further application window is expected to open on 28 October 2026, with more detail published then. Check that page before you commit a date or a grant rate.
Window 2 — expected 28 Oct 2026 to 29 Jan 2027
£38 million is for spend in 2027/28. That sits inside £66 million across two windows this year: £28 million was window 1 (2026/27) and £38 million is window 2. Projects may begin from April 2027 and must be delivered by 31 March 2028. Terms and grant rates for this phase are still to be confirmed. The programme says rates will fall over time as depot charging gets cheaper, so do not carry the window 1 rate of 70% or the £1 million cap into a window 2 model.
Window 1 — closed 30 June 2026
Window 1 opened on 25 March 2026, midday, and closed on 30 June 2026, or earlier if the pot ran out (with at least 3 working days’ notice on the listing). Applications were first-come, first-served. That cycle covers 70% of charge point and civil costs, up to £1 million across all sites. One application per organisation, with no limit on the number of depots inside it. Those projects must be finished by 31 March 2027. The aim was to conclude award decisions by 30 September 2026. Spend is only eligible if it happens after the grant agreement is signed.
Who can apply
The programme is £170 million from April 2026 to 2030. To be in scope, an organisation is registered and operating in the UK (not the Isle of Man, Jersey or Guernsey), has been operating its fleet here for at least a year, and owns or leases at least one UK depot. The fleet includes, or will include, at least one battery-electric van, HGV or coach, and the application has to show what that does to charging demand. A senior leader must approve it. Funded chargers are primarily for commercial vehicles. If other fleet operators share them, pricing has to be cost recovery for at least three years after the award. The same works cannot also take similar government funding. Buying the vans or HGVs is a separate route, the Zero Emission Van and Truck Grant.
What to have ready
Depot addresses, which vehicles are going electric, how long they stand, and a first view of power and civils. Find a Grant says its own templates must be used, including the application form, workbook and letter of intent. A survey now means that pack can be filled in if the 28 October window opens as described.

EV fleet depot charging

Vehicles leave charged. The site does not stall.

Duty-cycle design

We specify overnight AC or rapid DC from how long vehicles actually stand — not a catalogue default.

Smart load management

Chargers share available site power automatically, so you do not buy a supply upgrade before you need one.

Off-peak scheduling

Push charging into cheaper hours. Energy cost falls; vehicles are still ready for the first route.

Shared depot bays

Other operators can use surplus capacity. If the bays are grant-funded, Find a Grant requires cost-recovery pricing for at least three years, and commercial vehicles must be the primary users.

Depot Charging Scheme

Applications are closed. We line up survey, power and civils so a van, HGV or coach depot is ready if the next window opens on 28 October. Staff car parks use a different grant.

Scales with the fleet

Start with a few bays and add more. Same platform, same app, no rip-and-replace.

Published fleet hardware pricing

50kW dual rapid from £15,959 ex VAT.

Hardware prices match the pricing page. Installation depends on power and civils, so it is quoted after the depot survey rather than shown as a single “from” figure.

80–240kW

£26,000–£36,000

per station, ex VAT

  • Higher-power depot and turnaround sites
  • Specified after the power study
  • Overnight AC quoted where dwell allows

Software

from £25/mo

per charger, or £50 with maintenance

  • Schedules, billing and energy reports
  • Live status across every bay
  • Installation via pricing and survey

Indicative hardware pricing, ex VAT. Installation, civils and grid upgrades are quoted after survey. T&Cs apply. Software from £25/month per charger.
