Compare fuel, maintenance and depot charging for the same vans and the same miles. Defaults use the latest published diesel price and ZOLB charger prices. Change any figure. This is an illustration, not a quote or a tax calculation. It sits with EV fleet charging. Grant rules are on the Depot Charging Scheme page, and this model does not apply that funding.

Diesel

Pump price, pence per litre Default is the DESNZ UK average for the week of 21 September 2026, including VAT. Use your fuel-card price if you have one. Miles per gallon 36 mpg is a representative panel van, not an official figure. Set the economy your vans actually return. Maintenance, £ per van per year Assumption. Service, maintenance and repair, excluding fuel.

Electric

Depot electricity, pence per kWh Business-tariff assumption. Edit to the rate on your supply contract. Public charging, pence per kWh 54p/kWh is the public price HMRC used for advisory electric rates from 1 September 2026. Share charged at the depot: Miles per kWh Panel-van assumption. HMRC’s 3.59 miles/kWh figure is for cars, so it is not used here. Maintenance, £ per van per year Assumption. Usually lower than diesel. Set it from your own service plan. Electric van price premium, £ per van How much more the electric van costs than the diesel equivalent, before any van grant. Illustrative default. The Zero Emission Van and Truck Grant is separate and is not deducted here.

Check this against a depot survey

Energy is pence per mile times annual mileage. Diesel litres per mile are 4.54609 divided by mpg. Electric pence per mile is the blended pence per kWh divided by miles per kWh. Charger counts round up. Pump prices include VAT. ZOLB hardware and install are ex VAT.
